Myth #3. You should use drain cleaner to fix a clog.
When you have a clog, it’s much easier to simply pour some drain cleaner down the sink than it is to call a plumber, but you should avoid using drain cleaners at all costs. Drain cleaners may help to clear your clog, but they are also incredibly toxic and they can even damage your pipes! Drain cleaners contain hydrochloric acid, which can eat away at the enamel in your pipes. Drain cleaner might save you time and money now, but it could leave you with an expensive repair in the future.
Myth #4. You can put anything down your garbage disposal as long as you run the water.
Just because it fits in your garbage disposal, it doesn’t mean you should put it in your garbage disposal. There are actually many food scraps that you should never put down your garbage disposal because they can damage it. If you have any doubt about whether to put it down your garbage disposal or not, play it safe and just throw it away!
We’ve got just a couple more myths to debunk for you, so please stay tuned for our next blog!
