Droughts are a very big problem for people all over the world. Here in the United States, it sometimes feels like many of us are safe from the troubles that the rest of the world has, but this summer when California was hit with that terrible drought, the trouble was a lot closer to home. If California’s drought has taught us anything, it is that the more water we can save on a daily basis, the better. It is all too easy to waste water in our homes without even knowing it, especially when you are washing dishes. Luckily, our Belleville plumber has come up with this list of tips to help:
- Fill up the sink- If you have a full sink of dishes to clean, fill up the sink full of warm soapy water instead of running the water while you clean each dish. This is one of the best ways to save water.
- Rinse all of your dishes at once- One of the most efficient ways to rinse your dishes is by putting them all into a dish rack and rinsing them all at once. You will save water and time by doing this!
- Save your cold water- Save water while you are waiting for it to start warming up, rather than letting it drain into your sink. You can use that water to give your plants a drink or mop your floors!
- Throw your food scraps into the garbage- It takes quite a bit of water for your garbage disposal to work properly. Rather than throwing your scraps of food down the disposal, throw them into the trash can.
