Some things should never be flushed, and many of them may even surprise you!
There are many things that seem like they should be safe to flush but actually aren’t. Some of the most innocent, innocuous things can actually lead to big clogs and severe damage, so before you flush it, you should always double check that it is safe to flush. Check out our latest blog to learn about the things that our Belleville plumber has already gone over. The following is a list of the last few surprising things not to flush down your toilet:
Hair is thin and soft, so it makes sense why so many people think it’s flushable, but it should never be flushed. You’d be surprised at how fast hair can ball up and clog your pipes. Plus, hair creates a strong odor that can be very unpleasant.
Band-aids are small and soft, so they should flush down the toilet with no problem. If only that were true! Band-aids are made from plastic that is not biodegradable, so they don’t break down in the toilet. Plus, they tend to stick to other things to make existing clogs a whole lot worse.
Like hair, floss is thin and soft, and it seems innocent enough, but you should always toss it in the trashcan instead of the toilet. Floss can tangle around itself, as well as other things in your pipes, to form nasty clogs. Plus, floss isn’t biodegradable, so it will never break down in your toilet.
