With the holidays right around the corner, many people are looking to save a little more money.
The holidays are a time for delicious feasts, friends, family and presents, which can leave your wallet feeling a lot lighter than you might like. That is why many people are looking for ways to cut down on their budgets this winter. Luckily, you can save a lot more water (which equals more money) with just a few simple adjustments. The following is a list of tips from our Belleville plumber of a few water savings tips for the winter months:
#1. Save your water while it’s warming up.
Whether you are taking a shower or washing the dishes, it can take a few minutes for the water to be warm enough to use over the winter. Rather than letting all of that water go down the drain, catch it a bucket. You can use that water to keep your plants alive, give your pets a drink, clean your house or even flush your toilet!
#2. Switch to a low-flow shower head.
Showers account for a large percentage of water usage in most homes, but this doesn’t mean that you have to take short showers. Enjoy your time in the shower and conserve more at the same time by exchanging your old shower head for a low-flow shower head.
#3. Don’t let the water run.
When you are cleaning up all of those dishes after your holiday get-togethers, don’t leave the water running. Either scrape all of the excess food into the trash and run the dishwasher or fill a basin with soapy water to clean your dishes. Both of these options will help you conserve lots of water while still getting your dishes clean.
