If you have read our last blog, then you already know that there are many ways that you can unclog a drain on your own. Our Granite City plumber talked about using hot water, salt, baking soda and vinegar, dish soap and even Nair to unclog your drain, but these aren’t the only methods available. The following is a list of more easy tips for unclogging your drain:
- Wet Vac- Insert the hose of your wet vac into the drain. When the hose is on tight, turn on your vacuum. This should suck up all of the debris that are stuck.
- Wire Hanger- If you need to snake your drain, but you don’t want to invest in a drain snake, you can try a wire hanger. All you have to do is unbend the hanger, and use it to pull the clog out of the drain.
- Plunger- Place a piece of duct tape over the overflow drain in your sink or tub, this forces all of the air and water into the clog, which will make it easier to plunge. Fill the sink with hot water and form a seal around the drain with a cup plunger, and then plunge away!
