Although there are some plumbing repairs you should never attempt on your own, you don’t have to hire an Edwardsville plumber for every minor leak or clog you have. However, before you start attempting to fix any plumbing issue, it is important to know when to call a plumber. Regardless of whether you plan on fixing many of your plumbing issues by yourself or if you plan on calling in a plumber, there are a few plumbing tools that every home should have, just in case. The following is a list of basic, must-have plumbing tools that every home should have handy:
#1. A Toilet Plunger
Clogged drains are one of the most common and easy to fix plumbing problems, but you have to have a good plunger in order to do so. There are many different types of plungers, and you can read all about them in our previous blog, but toilet plungers are the best option if you only have one plunger at your house because they are the most versatile.
#2. Adjustable Pipe Wrench
Pipe wrenches are perfect for gripping pipes, and if you buy an adjustable pipe wrench, you will be able to use it for many different pipe sizes. It is a good idea to have a pair of pipe wrenches so that you can have a wrench for holding the pipe steady and a wrench for unscrewing. If you don’t want to go out and buy an adjustable pipe wrench, you can also use pliers, but you may need to buy multiple sizes so that you are able to use your pliers on different pipe sizes.
