Over a long period of time, everyday wear and tear can start to affect the seals in your faucets. Regularly check the faucets in your bathroom and kitchen to watch for leaks. It’s also important to check the fixtures, tile and sinks for discoloration.
#2. Water Heater
Rust and corrosion are common with older water heaters, and unfortunately, these things can lead to leaks. Water heaters typically last around ten years, so if yours is getting up there, you need to make sure that you are regularly inspecting it for leaks.
Your dishwasher and washing machine use a whole lot of water, and both of these appliances are prone to leaks. Look under the sink and on the floor surrounding the base of your dishwasher to look for discoloring, warping or wet spots. Check for water around your washing machine as well.
